THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF MONONGALIA COUNTY 911 CENTER.

Posted Friday, November 9, 2007 ; 06:39 AM

Residents in the Cheat Lake area told to shelter in place: Do NOT leave your homes.

CHEAT LAKE -- The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department says a truck overturned on Interstate 68, and is leaking toxic fumes.

If you live in the Cheat Lake area, specifically around exits 10 -15 on I-68 East, authorities say to stay inside, keep your windows and doors closed, and turn the fans air conditioners or heaters off so as not to pull any outside air into your home.

Deputies say the driver of the tractor-trailer has died. They are calling in the state medical examiner's office.

Currently, Quarry Run Road and Route 73 in Monongalia County are closed.

School buses that normally run along Route 857 will NOT run this morning.

Stay tuned to 12 News for more information.

1. Thanks for the info
I have family in Morgantown, and friends who live just off the Cheat Lake exit. I will have to make some phone calls.
