BCS National Championship: WVU is going all the way!!
Did you give up hope? Do you think we don't have a chance? Well think again! Spot for the Mountaineers in the national championship game is almost assured. Check out what CBS Sports has to say:

Bowl Prediction

With Oregon losing to Arizona and Oklahoma losing to Texas Tech, it opens to door for a handful of teams -- Missouri, Kansas, West Virginia and even Ohio State. We predict Missouri will defeat Kansas and then lose to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, allowing West Virginia to earn the No. 2 spot in the BCS. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the BCS and only has to beat Arkansas and then either Tennessee or Georgia in the SEC title game to play for the national title. West Virginia played for the national title in 1988, losing to Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Missouri/Kansas game this Saturday will be very close but we don't care. Neither Missouri nor Kansas will survive the Big 12 championship game, which means a defeat for two of the three teams currently ranked above us in the BCS poll. Which means we'll be ranked #3 after this week and #2 after the following week. That will get us into the playoff game with LSU.

But all this depends on winning our last two games. Will we? Even in this year of upsets it would be very unlikely for WVU to lose either of these games. The toughest one will be this Saturday at 3:30 PM. Check out the College Football News prediction:

Connecticut (9-2) at West Virginia (9-1)
3:30 EST, ABC

Connecticut has been a great story, but the clock is about to strike 12 on the Huskies. There’s no way this upstart program is leaving Milan Puskar Stadium with the Big East title that West Virginia feels belongs to them. The Mountaineers will shut down the Husky attack, while getting another MVP-type performance on offense from White.

CFN Prediction: West Virginia 34 … Connecticut 13

Team Rankings says there is a 79.8% probability that we will defeat UConn. But what about the Backyard Brawl in Morgantown the following week? Pittsburgh has a 6.9% chance of winning that one.

And while the championship game would be no cakewalk, LSU's defense has struggled this year against multi-talented quarterbacks like Pat White. It has been two long decades since we played in a national championship game. Our quarterback, Major Harris, separated his shoulder on the third play and we were dead meat from then on. Maybe this year our first national championship title will be ours at last.

1. "this depends on winning our last two games"
I almost can't watch...almost!

Either game could go either way, if, the Eers don't hang on to the ball for dear life, like a real contender should...this coughing up the ball crap is not good for heart patients like myself.

I said some dirty words last Saturday night that I hadn't used since I was in the Army...

It's a wonder my dog hadn't had a heart attack.

Ease up on us old codger type fans Rich!

I had two heart attacks durng last week's game and you don't hear me whining about it! I'm not gonna say I'm nervous as a whore in church or anything like that but I am just a tad excited about this Saturday's game.

I'm tellin' ya, I gotta feeling we're gonna go for the brass ring this time!

:applause:

5. "I gotta feeling"
I had that same feeling up until the Bulls game.

I wanna' believe! Believe me I do!

Things like Rich letting that two minutes slip away before halftime without trying to score, in the game two weeks ago against Rutgers, make me wonder if Rich REALLY wants to win it all. Shades of old Donnie methinks...I hate the conservative offense bullshit, almost as bad as I hate "Compassionate Conservatives"!

If you've got it flaunt it damn-it Rich! WV should be far enough ahead in every game so that a fumble or two shouldn't make that much difference, if Rich would let this team play up to their potential. WV has the talent to put on a great aerial show to go along with the fine running game. Rich plays it too close to the vest on first downs, IMHO...upthemiddleitus Donnie style, may be setting in on Rich.

I still kind of miss Bobby Bowden's big play football at WV! When I think of all the fine passing teams and the great talent that big Don wasted on his smash-mouth dream schemes all those years, it breaks my heart.

I'm thankful that the Mountaineers are doing as well as they are!

6. Everybody's had their Bulls game this year.
Except for the teams who've only played the cub scouts junior league and the school for the blind so far. I was disillusioned then too, as you know, but we've gotten a reprieve and we're on the hunt! They'll straighten up for this one. We'll see in just another 48 hours.

8. Arizona State just got beat.
They're currently #6 in the BCS but they'll move down now. Tomorrow's gonna be a big day. My brother told me yesterday he doesn't want to see any more of those close ones. I'm not the only one having heart attacks, ya know.

If #4 Missouri beats #2 Kansas tomorrow I think there's a good chance #4 Mizzou will move past #3 us to the #2 spot. Even with us beating #20 UConn. I hope not but in that case I think we would still be OK because neiher Kansas nor Mizzou is going to survive the Big 12 championship game.

9. Holy cow, #1 LSU just got upset by Arkansas!
What could this mean, Ohio State and West Virginia University in the playoff game? Will WVU be ranked #1 next week if they manage a win over UConn? Inquiring minds want to know. The college football world is in turmoil. I'm OK right now, Mrs. Lasher just hit me with the defibrillator.

10. I saw LSU bite the dust last PM!
And loved it! Could this be the "next year," we've all waited for, for SOOOOOOO many years? Dare we hope?

WVU has the talent, I believe...do they have the will?

The Mountaineer defense had better outshine their offense today...and I think they "can do."

The little team that could.....................Gooooo000000ooooo00000oooo.....all.....the..way, but they gotta' want it, as much as the Mountaineer faithful do.

11. Told ya so!
Good morning.

This is the year! The planets are aligned. Our defense has been doing well this year and will shut the UConn offense down and they won't be able to do the same to us. WVU, 34-13.

13. West Virginia 66, Connecticut 21
Sorry it didn't turn out exactly as I predicted but I hope this will be acceptable.

What a blowout! Style points and everythig! I think we had the parking lot attendant scoring in the 4th quarter.

We're now the Big East champs and a spot in the national playoff game is all but assured. If we play like we did today we're gonna be the national champs for the first time ever! Just like I said.

Let's gooooooo...

16. Saturday night is going to be fun
I'll be in WV that day (from Maine), having my non-holiday holiday visit. I think we're going to have a combination grandmother's 80th birthday dinner/watch the Mounties play sort of evening. It's time I started indoctrinating my 3-yo niece into the joys of Mountaineer football.
