Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 12:37 PM by neverlander
DON KARNES FOR MAYOR? I don't think so!
This sounds like it could have been in the papers in recent news, but it is OLD news.

Nitro's election will be interesting to say the least. History is coming back to haunt voters. Some associated with candidate Karnes have bombarded the current administration with accusations that are very similar to those leveled against Karnes himself during his years in public service. Below are some archived articles from Charleston Newspapers. Perhaps these Karnes supporters should have remembered that their own house was similarly criticized before they pointed out the faults of the current one. There is nothing new under the sun.

1. Hard to dispute so many media records
It is hard to dispute the facts when they are in black & white media accounts.

Thanks for cataloging these news stories.

2. Truly want change
I thought some folks needed reminded or maybe never knew how things went then.
It is hard to tell, with this much going on in a little town, who may have been misinformed or used by others.
Best way to solve that kind of thing is with plain oldfashioned facts. People will make up their own minds, but they should have all the information to work with. Don did some good things, but so did Rusty, point is, it is time for someone else to have a shot.

5. Wow Nitro on the DU!
I grew up in Nitro. Went to HS with the current mayor. In fact my grandfather was the mayor back before Alexanders long term.

The political positions in Nitro have always been about popularity more than qualifications. As long as that is the way it is then you are gonna have what has been mentioned.

Maybe all the trouble here recently will cause voters to wise up?
