April's Kanawha County Blog Exposes Immunity For Court Appointed Lawyers

Coming April 14th, 2008

WV Court Appointed Lawyers (private & public defenders office) who represent indigent criminals/clients are underpaid, overloaded with cases and the defendants don’t always get the best representation possible because of it…. We’ve all heard this complaint.

To compensate for this problem and injustice, the state protects these attorney’s from being sued by their clients if they can’t, or don’t defend them properly.

Why is that a problem?

Happens all the time and this is one reason why.

2. Clarifying Question

Just want to makesure everyone understands the question we are posing since you can not edit these threads after one hour.

"Why is that a problem?"

There has to be some liability that these attorney's have to face if they neglect or fail to adequately defend their clients. To give them immunity creates an atmosphere that they can not be sued or held accountable.

It is the same unfortunate scenerio for anyone who is on public free health insurance through the county/state. Unknown to most people, if you are on this type medical coverage and a doctor is negligent in their treatment etc.

You may not be able to sue them for malpractice because the county/state is paying your doctor-hospital bill.

It appears 7 Canebrake drive does exist a few miles down the road in BLUFFTON SC which borders HHI.

The press release criteria (its automated) does not offer Bluffton as a city so I think HHI makes sense.

I would not jump to conclusions on what PWDGroup stands for. There are thousands of companies who have the same name, even though PWD is not that common.

Personally, I do not care who is putting all of this out there in the public. Its a good thing. If you looked into Nitro's problems as hard as your trying to look into this, Nitro would be a lot better off.

6. Truce

Lets just all wait and see how this plays out over the next couple weeks. I just find it very hard to believe this (pwdgroup) is all coming from local people associated with Nitro.

They appear to be on more on a higher level.
