Git yer WV Democratic Primary sample ballots right here!
Edited on Thu May-01-08 08:06 AM by Lasher
Go to the WV Secretary of State website and click on the black circle in the Primary 2008 column for your county:

http://www.wvsos.com/elections/ballots/ballots.htm#County

The May 13 WV Primary is less than 2 weeks away now, so we need to start making up our minds. I like to mark up my sample ballot ahead of time and take it with me so I won't end up just picking one or two in the county races at random.

Like I said in another thread I think I'm going for Workman and Ketchum for Supreme Court. For Secretary of State, maybe Natalie Tennant. Douglas for Commissioner of Agriculture for sure.

I think I'll vote for Jay but I'm disappointed with what a DINO he's turning out to be, particularly since we regained control of the US Senate. So I might vote for Fletcher but Jay will surely get the nomination.

Same thing with DINO Manchin for Governor. I might vote for Kessler.

But the only one of these I have strong feelings about is Maynard. There's no amount of waterboarding you could do to me to get me to vote for him.

Edit: Let's not discuss the Presidential candidates in this thread, OK? I don't want to be cast into the fire and brimstone at GD-P.

1. Anybody else get the Maynard edition high cost flyer
from the 'West Virginia Citizens against Lawsuit Abuse'? I doubt there is one West Virginian in that group. They didn't get the money for the two expensive shiny thick fliers they mailed me from here, that's fer sure. Don B is probably behind this "concerned citizens group" who are working hard to make sure we can't exercise our rights.

2. I didn't get it but I don't want to.
If that asshole wins a Democratic nomination in the Primary I'm going to slash my wrists.

7. The Gazette recommends ...
Gus Douglas for Ag and Natalie Tennant for State. I will definitely vote for Gus -- he's been Ag Sec since dirt was young, except for a single term when he tried for the nomination for governor. I will probably vote for Natalie, in an attempt to encourage more women at the state level. The office of the secretary of state is pretty powerless office, other than enforcing voting regulations and waiting for the governor to resign or drop dead.

Anyone else have comments?

8. Yep, Gus and Natalie here too.
And this is very important, as I have said elsewhere: Vote for Menis Ketchum and Margaret Workman for Justice of Supreme Court of Appeals. You can vote for two. Ketchum is polling in first place. Workman and the evil Maynard are almost tied for second place, and Bastress doesn't seem to have much of a chance. I have nothing against Bastress but if we split that 'second place' vote between him and Workman, Maynard might squeak by with that second nomination.

Mixed in among the robo-calls last night, I got a call from a nice lady from western Pennsylvania, who tried to talk me into voting for Hillary. She was smart, and wasn't like some who can do nothing but read form a script. I told her that Hillary comes slightly closer than Obama to supporting the values that are most important to me, but I'm voting for Obama because I don't want to see another dynasty perpetuated, and Obama has a chance of energizing a whole new generation of Democrats. I was glad she called and we ended up talking for a long time. I told her about DU. She wrote down the URL and said she would look in.

10. Yep, most things went as I'd hoped.
Buh bye, Spike! :hi:

Now if we can just dethrone Smelly Snore Crappytoe this November, that would be good.
