Where in the HELL is Gwen Moore?!
I turn on the news and all I see is Jim Sensenbrenner and Jim Ryan talking about how terrible the stimulus package will be.

Isn't that like asking Mrs. O'Leary's cow for fire prevention tips?

Last time I checked, there was a Democrat representing greater Milwaukee. Why am I not seeing her?

1. It's not Gwen Moore's fault. She doesn't get a vote on 'who gets to appear.'
Media Matters did the math and produced this graph:

From this summary page:

http://www.commondreams.org/further/gop-lawmakers-outnumber-democratic-lawmakers-2-1-stimulus-debate-cable-news

There's another bar graph in there somewhere representing the ratio of the total number of actual economists interviewed on the topic of the stimulus, against the total number of all persons interviewed. It was several hundred to 6 or 7, I think -- blow-hard pundits with no academmic qualifications on the topic, against a very small number that might have been said to have had an informed opinion.

...It's the same reason yesterday's Meet the Press -- on the subject of the Stimulus Package -- featured two guests -- the Republican governor of Florida (dumb, but good hair) and the Republican governor of Louisiana (smart, but not as nice looking), to appeal to both sides of the TV ideological spectrum.

2. I'm not talking about cable news...
She's a nobody to them, and I understand that. But she can't seem to get her mug on television in her own district? We've got four local stations that do multiple newscasts every day, and not one of them has so far spoken to the person who represents the City of Milwuakee.

3. I saw her somewhere or other a few days ago--

4. That would be my guess.
Channel 6 is Faux News, and Channel 4 is the Journal-Sentinel water-carriers-for-the-WMC station.

That leaves 12.

5. yes, surprisingly.
For a while I was watching CBS-58 for local news and weather. Ho-hum. Then I changed to channel 12 and was surprised at the amount of national news and news about Gov. Doyle and state politics, and I thought wow--they care about something other than the endless crime stories.

The thing, strangely enough that made me switch, though, was noticing that, when a while back there was a propane tank on fire at Marquette, CBS had a shot of the emergency vehicles only. Channel 12 had a helicopter shot of the thing actually burning with the water being sprayed on it. I guess they've got more money for things like helicopters. Then I saw that they cover more stuff too. So I overcame my anti-ABC bias and decided to stick with them.

I tried Channel 4 one day, and the first thing I heard was one of the anchors say something disparaging about Obama. Not something really obvious but the tone was there and I thought, "that's it for them."
