signatures on Recall Petitions.
These are the ones for the Dem Senators - so we were looking for "fishy" stuff, ya know?
It was kinda sad, really - so many "collectors" had their signature, their spouse's and one neighbor.
Tedious mind-numbing (tailbone numbing!) work!
Here's a strong NOTE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE:
If you EVER SIGN a Petition - or are in charge of COLLECTING SIGNATURES for a petition - please make sure name is PRINTED legibly, and ALL information is complete and legible.

1. Other than being tedious, how did it go? |
|
Do most of the signatures seem to be legit?
Thank you for doing a thankless job!

The one's I did seemed to be unfortunately.
There were a couple of "illegible's" that couldn't be verified.
We had to reverse search addresses, google, etc - trying to find any information that would match what the signature "might" be.
There were some people around me though that had some definite "flags" on what looked like "spousal signatures" - and a couple who had what looked like whole pages of "suspect" signatures - but for the most part, they looked legit.
One of the Senators stopped by to say "thanks" - and we got free pizza! so it wasn't too bad! lol

2. And then what about all the husbands who signed for their wives |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-22-11 11:44 PM by Kashka-Kat
At least that was my prejudiced anti-republican view whenever I found two signatures at the same address that looked suspiciously alike . I shouldnt think that. Maybe the wife signed for hubby, I dunno!!
Anyway - good job mzteris!

4. I didn't have any of those |
|
but some of the people around me flagged some for that.
I think the real story is going to be the "signatures for shots" and the "signing under false pretenses" (being told it was to get the Senator on the ballot and was supporting him) type of thing.

5. printed names not required.. |
|
I have been collecting sigs to recall Lazich over the last 4 weekends. My forms have no column for a printed name - makes form smaller/faster to fill out; but tougher for you to verify.
-- In a separate issue, I wrote 2010 instead of 2011 on one of the forms after all the sigs were done. I have corrected the year, and signed again below the correction (good enough?).
-- thanks for your work

6. I've been doing sigs for Lazich's recall too, but |
|
I've been doing sigs for Lazich's recall too, but after my first day out I've been using the sheets with the space for the printed name too. The recall leaders sent out (via email) the no-printed-name forms early on in the campaign, but since then I've received a few emails with the other form.
How's the collecting going for you? Canvassing or just signs + standing? And were you out on election day too?
Keep up the work! The clock's almost up, eh?
