Of course, on the worst days, it is an exercise in complete futility. There are a number of very large cultural and economic reasons why Wyoming is so conservative. The idea that we are gonna change this state blue any time soon is ridiculous. (We're just tickled pink that the Gov is a Dem.)
On the best days, however, being a Democrat / Progressive in Wyoming is a calling. It's an ambassadorship. It is a mission. It's damned-near exciting.
Because we are so small in relative numbers, we are much more under scrutiny. We are much more visible; we stand out in a crowd. Without any additional effort, we already have people's attention.
So we gotta be sharp. There's no BS-ing our way through. Among all those Republicans, at least one of them is going to have their talking points down pat. So having the facts in order is an essential survival skill. If your bluffing, they will call it, and you will lose.
All this instant visibility is great, because our most achievable objective is to provide the alternative point of view, to let those who are willing to listen that there is another, and indeed better, way. Most crucially, we provide hope to those who think differently that they are not alone, that they aren't the ones who have lost their marbles.
As I said, "It's a MISSION!"

as it should be lol, what the perception here in wyoming concerning dems is that: A) they have moved into jackson, duboise, cody (insert tourist trap town here)... from somewhere else and are Large environmental fans with neither the agricultural experience or the land management experience that any 5th generation farmer/rancher here would have, but they will not hesitate to " give you their opinion" or (point out their fancy book learning)(lookup wolf recover movement, environmental groups, oil and gas/energy etc.) regardless of how it effects not only the economy, but that same 5th generation rancher/farmers living.
OR
B) they espouse how great their changes would be, and will argue for hours about the way they did it back home or that since their parents were from the gop and that since that didn't work out so well the dems way must be better and prevail. ect
i guess the hardest part of being a dem in wyoming is being able to look around and see that basically all these darned republicans really are happy, all they want is to have a say on things that will effect their livelihood before someone just dumps change on them. (AKA wolf program) and be left alone to make a living and raising the 6th generation rancher/farmer. i guess i can't really blame them, given the chance i think all americans would like it that way.
