The more public response by the government was to bring forward the retired generals who had served in Afghanistan during that period — including the former chief of the defence staff Rick Hillier — to deny the allegations and say no warnings were received.

Only this time, the spin hasn't worked.

And now the Harper government has been stopped in its tracks.

Some interesting responses too.

It looks like the Harperites took the wrong tack on this issue. They come off as mean and angry (the Conservative MPs and their defenders in the blogosphere). Canadians just aren't all that comfortable with mean. I think the population is growing weary of mean and angry.

Much to the Harper cabal's dismay, this is NOT going away. Mr. Colvin is writing a letter to the Committee to whom he testified, the letter will be a response to the testimony of the warmonger and liar Hillier and the others who testified after him. It should make for VERY interesting reading and I only hope the Committee makes that letter public right away.
