National Post: John Ivison: Canada’s UN failure cannot be blamed on Ignatieff
Senior Conservatives said they were shocked when the votes were counted at the United Nations and it emerged that Canada had lost its bid for a non-permanent seat on the organization’s Security Council. No wonder — Canada has run for the council once a decade since the UN’s creation in 1948 and has never lost an election.

...

So what happened? It’s all Michael Ignatieff’s fault, according to Lawrence Cannon, the Foreign Minister. “Not being able to speak with one voice had a negative effect on the Canadian campaign,” he told reporters in New York.

...

This explanation will work for those people who want to think the worst of the Liberal leader, no matter how implausible the story.

For those of a more reflective nature, no matter how thin you slice it, it’s baloney.

1. Yep, yep and yep...
"Principled" foreign policy like hell. Other than that the article was quite good, laying out the REAL issues the Harper government failed to address in the eyes of the world.

2. Ivison
Will not have a job with the Sun. He may have to be careful with his job at the Post.

Wonders what a job on Power & Politics and the New Canadian Government policies will do.

Harper is loosing his support.

When Andrew Coyne starts being logical, then Harper is out.
