I'm definitely going, as of now I'm going to Brussels, but that may change. I'm taking off a few days from classes to be there. It would be really great is some of us could meet up.

1. I Wish I Was
I have family near Frankfurt. I'll be going in the late Summer or Early Fall. I used to love Weissen Bier!!!

Shhh.... I still do.

4. I'm SO looking forward to this.
I haven't heard the official location yet, and because of that I think that I'm going to Brussels. It's also easier for me to get to and there's plenty of cheap places to stay. I'm trying to get some other like minded people from my university to go, but I'd still like to get at least another DUer or two to join up. Sure, they don't have weissen bier, but they have some other Belgian beers i'm very fond of. :toast:

5. Have You Ever Heard of "Corsindunk"?
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 06:31 PM by stepnw1f
It's an import from Belgum. I believe the spelling is correct.

I've heard of it, but I've never had the chance to try it. Good beer?

2. where is it? I'll be in Germany 2nd half of February
I will be in Germany but I'm afraid I'm not clear on where the protest will be. If it is too far from Munchen I can't go as my traveling companion is a wingnut and will split a blood vessel if I disappear on such a project for more than a few hours.

3. I think that it would be an all-day event, at least.
Kellanved says that supposedly it's going to happen in Heidelberg, Rothenburg or Meissen. So given the distance and the wingnut traveling companion . . . I don't think it's going to be feasible for you.

I think I'm sticking with Brussels.

The Frankfurt Airport is nearby, and so are several US Army camps.

14. It's quite a bit farther from me than Brussels
that and it isn't as easy to get a place to stay. Well, at least that way we'll have DU represented at both protests. :)

15. Bush and beer in Brussels
Pleez, pleez, come on over to Brussels, enjoy the beer and join in the Bush protests! A demonstration is planned across the street from the US embassy on February 21 from 5:30p to 7p, and another on February 22 near the European Commission starting at 3p. Details will be published on www.bushwanted.org.

Larry in Brussels

PS Believe it or not, there's even a Belgian beer called Bush. The strongest version is 12° - have one of those and you won't care who's president.

On TV here in China I could clearly see a KERRY-EDWARDS sign in with the protestors in Brussels, good work!

16. Living in Mainz...and willing
I live in Mainz and would be willing to help arrange
accommodations for anyone wanting to be here for the duration.
Be forewarned though, the rumor today is that both neighboring
cities of Mainz and Wiesbaden (combined population about
500,000) will be locked down for the b* visit –no car, train,
or air travel. Autobahns will be closed. Plan to arrive at
least a day ahead.

We are being used as a stage prop for the American nightly TV
news. In truth, only about 5-7% of the German people support
him or his policies. The rest detest him, far more so than any
Americans I have encountered. Nothing he can say will change
that.

There will be large demonstrations in almost every German city
which may be more practical for you to attend, so check on the
internet. Think about it, but do something.

And it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that it may get
rough around the edges.

17. Travelers to Mainz
I've arranged potential overnight housing with a number of trustworthy German and American families (plus a Brit), and could accommodate dozens of people, hundreds if necessary. People are quite angry and very willing to help. We can arrange off-forum contact.

The itinerary and police exclusion zones should be announced today. The nature and timing of the marches, demonstrations, speeches will depend upon the itinerary. It's a chance to see how the German's do it.

Bring your own eggs. We'll have frühstück.
