My mother was a German war bride...
Do I have an option to go there based on that fact?

1. I have no legal advice, but are we talking
WWII or something more recent?
Do you have/have you ever declared dual citizenship?

2. No dual citizenship
I never imagined wanting to leave the US.
My mother is now deceased, if that matters.

3. You can go there if you wish. There is no restriction on going to Germany
I would find it very interesting to see where my mother grew up if that were my situation. Got any pics of her when she was still there?

4. Call the German Embassy in Washington to see what your
legal rights and status are. If your mother did not naturalize and was a German citizen when she died, you might have a quasi-right of residency in Germany. Which may not be a bad move considering how things are going here with the exception of the 12% unemployment there.

5. It depends
Under what terms she , if she did it at all, gave up her German citizenship. Ask at the nearest consulate and/or the Germany Embassy. :hi:
