Swede Nominated to Top U.N. Post (head of internal oversight)
The former auditor-general of Sweden has been nominated by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan as the new chief of the U.N. internal watchdog agency (United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services or OIOS). General Assembly, no opposition is expected and she could be in the new high profile position by the beginning of next week.

Inga-Britt Ahlenius, who is the current auditor-general for Kosovo is to replace Dileep Nair, who is being investigated for alleged favoritism and wrongdoing in the oil-for-food program. While her nomination must be approved by the U.N. General Assembly, no opposition is expected and she could be in the new high profile position by the beginning of next week.

Another Swede for * & Co to hate! And this one is not as low-key as Hans Blix (she contributed in disbanding the EC Commission in 1999). It´s weird that Danforth nominated her though.
