I am considering living in Mexico. I have a job I like OK, but no benefits. |
|
I know Spanish enough to get around. I'm 56, have a little income from an inheritance I'd live on if I do this. I'm thinking of living a modest lifestyle, among the natives.
If I could find work, that would be good, but IME it's hard as the dickens to find a job at my age in the US, much less in another country. I am thinking more of doing volunteer work somewhere, such as a school or hospital.
Any experience, strength, and hope anyone can share? Also, could I take my cat?

There's likely to be a Mexican consulate somewhere near you. They could give you the real lowdown on what you need to know.
In addition, there are websites that deal with retiring to Mexico, as well as Escape from America, an online magazine.
