NSW launches High Court challenge to I.R. laws.
NSW has today become the first state to lodge a High Court challenge to the new I.R. laws. W.A.
is preparing to lodge its challenge, and Queensland and S.A. are expected to follow.

Some employers have already begun implementing some of the changes, even though the changes haven't
yet become law - how sweet it would be to see some of these people having to backpeddle.

All this past week I have been doing my Cert III (compulsory) security training in this city. There is this one little shop the next block down where I would grab a cool drink. Yesterday I walked down there to get my drink and it was closed. It had a sign on the door basically saying that the workers had walked off the job due to the boss implementing the use of the I.R. laws. Had I known that earlier in the week, I would not have been buying a drink there, period. I support the workers of Australia, and intend to not purchase from any place that takes on anything from the I.R. laws.

Working in the security industry I know when I get my next job there is going to be an AWA in place (most security companies are implementing them now.) And regardless of my beliefs I am going to have to accept the damn AWA or lose my dole in the process. I can't afford that. Already this Christmas things are fucked for me. I can't afford presents, I can barely afford the fuel to get to my sisters place (in Metung) today. And there hasn't been all that much food in my house for a few weeks now. All this week I have not had lunch, and that soul drink I would buy would come from change I had in a tin at home. Change I would use to pay the parking in the city, and buy my one soul drink a day.

The last time I experienced a Chirstmas like this, it was back when I was a kid and mum was on the Widows Pension. There was one Christmas we never had any food or presents at all.

On edit: typo
