1. He arrived today, and already the Libs have their knives out. |

Heard a brief statement from Ian McFarlane saying that Gore is just trying to sell tickets to his movie. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200609/s1737712.htmWhile Howard bleats about lost jobs (what he means is, we make money from coal and we're not going to change anything) http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200609/s1737450.htmLooking forward to seeing the combined power of Denton and Gore tonight.

I had several people with me at the time and they all marveled at Gore's intellect and passion. He made some very good points and Denton managed to bring out the best in him. I can't believe that they are actually airing advertisements as stupid as the one they showed during Enough Rope.
The United States missed out on having a very thoughtful and visionary President who would have most likely taken America and the world a long way toward a better future. We are all the worse of for it
And yes, McFarlane, Terry McCrann and all of the other right wing talentless shills are at Gore's throat. They hate seeing someone who has what they lack -courage, vision and intellect
Particularly the case in McFarlane. He's a talentless hack whose political career was only saved because Tampa came along and wiped his unethical conduct from the front pages in 2001. The only reason he's still in the Cabinet is because Howard has a talent for finding the most talentless, unethical and intellectually vacant members of the Liberal Party to serve alongside him

3. Isn't it a pity that Beazley doesn't really pick it up and run. |

I know he's said he'll sign off on Kyoto, but he should really make it a big deal.
Global warming is real, and we're all going to see it manifesting - Howard will be left behind. Unfortunately, Kim probably will be too.
But maybe, just maybe, we'll see enough change in the next twelve months to see a move for Gore as president. It's not beyond possibility, IMO.
