AL: Judge Denies Discovery in Voting Rights Act Case

An Alabama county's constitutional challenge to portions of the Voting Rights Act cleared a legal hurdle when a federal judge in Washington, D.C., rejected the government's bid for further discovery.
In its federal lawsuit, Shelby County claimed that the "preclearance" requirements of the Act put undue pressure on its election process, raising costs and delaying at least one election.

public examination phase of the Digital Vote by Mail pilot project for overseas voters will begin on Friday, September 24.

During the test period, which will continue through Thursday, September 30, individuals who wish test and comment on the technology and usability of the application will be granted access to the application, a complete system architectural diagram, and access to the underlying source code.

A limited number of test credentials will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on Friday morning.

Mukund Lagoo, an activist fighting for tribal rights was arrested 10 days ago and is languishing in jail. Mumbai Police’s application seeking cancellation of Hari Prasad’s bail (apparently drafted by the Election Commission) threatens his arrest again. Mumbai Police are not stopping there. They plan to summon Hari Prasad’s colleagues in NetIndia for questioning. The list is unlikely to stop there.

The series of these actions show the worst form of police terror unleashed against ordinary citizens since the days of emergency imposed in 1975.

1. Just got a call on a survey about voting
they wanted to talk to the youngest female over 18. I told them I was the only female in the household and I was 77. He said could I answer some questions about the elections. I said sure. He then said are you registered to vote and I said yes. He then said that was all the questions. I said wait a minute add this..I am going to vote for every single Democrat on the ticket and if I could go from state to state I would do the same. He said he didn't have any questions. I said is that because you are calling for the republicans and he said he had to hang up. I bet he was taking a republican survey.
