Mrs. Murphy in the Rita Mae/Sneaky Pie Brown books--she's a tabby, |
|
but is she gray or golden?

1. I can't remember if her color has |
|
been identified in Rita Mae's books. Sneaky Pie Brown is a gray kitty I think. I love those books!

3. No, they aren't for kids. I've read several so far, and intend to read them all. |
|
They take place in a small Virginia town where everybody knows everybody else.
Central characters in the stories include Mary Miner "Harry" Harristeen, her dog Tucker and cat Mrs. Murphy, another cat, Pewter, and other village residents, 2- and 4-legged.
The animals take active roles in figuring out whodunit, including coming to the humans' aid more than once. The animals understand what the people say, but the people can't understand the animals.
I recommend the series.

4. They are not written for children but |
|
they are definitely PG so I see no reason not to let 11/12/13 yr olds read them. They are delightful. The main characters (dog and cat) talk to each other. Sounds corny but it's not. They help solve mysteries. A made for TV movie was made out of one of the books.

5. I know a 15-year-old girl.... |
|
....who needs to read something besides boy-meets-girl trashy teen stuff. This might be the ticket. Thanks.
