Master of Verona; a historical adventure
by David Blixt. Combines the Montagues and Capulets, Petruchio and Catherine, and Dante Alaghieri in a ripping yarn about dynastic struggles in 14th century Italy. Exciting and well written. My library had it; so does Amazon.

4. I just finished this book.
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 09:07 PM by hippywife
I picked it up last Sunday morning and just finished it tonight even tho it's 561 pages and I do have a full time job and lots of work around the house. LOL

I think that anyone who has enjoyed Follett's World without End would enjoy this book, too. It's more of a mystery in some aspects, tho, and there are lots of unexpected twists and turns towards the ending.

Thanx for recommending it, pscot. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. :hi:

Edited to add that the ending does leave an opening for a sequel but it's not a such huge gaping hole that will leave anyone dissatisfied.

5. I received an email response from the author.
The next book is going to be called Voice of the Falconer and is the next in the series of this book of Verona. However, publishing has been delayed. So in the meantime, he says he's working on a "a massive Roman novel." I really can't wait for this next in the series. It was quite an exciting book.

He also recommended that I try Dorothy Dunnett's The Game of Kings series. Is anyone familiar with this one?
