somehow I missed Faulkner in my youth, and this is no book for an old woman to be reading . Is all of his stuff this depressing? I dreamed about death last night !

6. This book is atypical for Faulkner. His best is "Absalom, Absalom" |
|
This is also his most "typical" book, one that includes the heavy narration of his early works and his emphasis on history from his later works.

10. Find his novella, "Old Man" . . . |
|
It's favorably compared to Huckleberry Finn. The first piece of his I ever read (and I've read most of his work since), it remains with me to this day - 30 years later.
