Paul Reickhoff's "Chasing Ghosts" — highly recommended! |
|
I'm a little more than halfway though it now. Reickoff was a lieutenant, a platoon leader, in Iraq, '03-'04. The book is spot on. When politicians or talking heads argue that people in America don't really know what it's like "on the ground" over there, or that we don't hear about all the "good things" going on, slap them in the face with this book.

I'm just about to begin working on a new set of books, and I've been wanting to include an Iraq book among them. I was leaning toward In the Belly of the Green Bird, but I'll take out Reickoff's book instead. It was hearing him on various radio shows that led me to support IAVA, and I feel lucky to have a signed copy of his book.
