Robert Kirkman on Frank Darabont's 'Walking Dead' TV Show |
|
Kirkman Talks Frank Darabont's 'Walking Dead' TV ShowKirkman had this to say about The Walking Dead at AMC, "I'm excited that there is a television show, and I'm excited that Darabont is involved-and one of the big reasons for that is that I trust him. I don't need to look over his shoulder."
"I had no concerns about that whatsoever, because one of the concerns I have about zombie fiction is when they rely too much on the shocking gore aspects. That's not really the point of "Walking Dead,"http://www.horrorsquad.com/2009/10/01/kirkman-talks-frank-darabonts-walking-dead-tv-show

2. I think Darabont has got the skill to pull it off, |
|
If AMC gives him the freedom to do what he wants it should be classic.

3. Well it has to have SOME shocking gore aspects! |
|
It's a damned zombie show! :)
I think the gore can be downplayed quite a bit and still have an effective story, but it's not like a psychological thriller or slasher where the gore can be implied, a la the shower scene in Psycho. In a zombie movie they die by head shots and eat people. You can only skirt around that so much. :D

SyFy gets away with quite a bit of brief gore from what I've seen. AMC should be able to as well, if they air it late enough. If shot it in b&w they could get away with much more.
