5. If people like MLK never existed, I may agree with the message.
I love atheism, but some theists are profound thinkers.

Statistics tell us atheists have higher IQs, on average, than theists, but there are still some hyper smart theists, and there are probably some dim witted atheists, though I have never personally met a dim witted atheist.

No one said anything about atheism and this thread isn't about totalitarian dictators.

Stay on topic.

14. The topic is one of your invention.
I know you have an extremely difficult time staying on topic and have a need to try to make every discussion about either logical logician or the atrocities committed by totalitarian regimes, but really. Your schtick is stale.

And those totalitarian regimes of which you so often speak were indeed atheistic. Some were and some still are.

17. And did they do what they did
because of atheism? No. Were people starved, tortured and maimed for religious reasons? No. Was atheism even a motivating force behind any of the communist revolutions? No.

Your shtick is old, tired and bankrupt.

the implementation of forced state atheism. I don't think you have any concept of how brutal and oppressive those times were. And, yes, there was much done specifically in the name of Atheism. Why do you insist on mixing Communism and atheism, when the implementation of state atheism was only one part of the agenda, though a very significant part?

on attributing all of the deaths under Communism to "atheistic dictators". 130 million people died under atheistic dictators...that's your mantra, repeated ad nauseum. In fact, neither you nor any of the misbegotten sources that you parrot endlessly have the slightest clue or evidence about how many people died as a direct result of atheism. And when challenged to compare any of the numbers you cite to the numbers of people who have died under rulers who were religious throughout history, you run away and hide.

And I have a very good idea of how brutal those times were. I've read biographies of Stalin, histories of the Gulag and histories of the Communist revolution. If you had, you'd know that the word atheism is rarely even to be found, and even more rarely are mass deaths attributed to it. It simply was not as important as you like to pretend.

The 1932-33 Famine-Genocide in Soviet Ukraine was deliberately instigated by Stalin and his regime in order to complete Ukraine's subjugation to Moscow. Stalin's ongoing assault on Ukrainian independence, murderous grain requisitioning methods, the internal passport system, eye witness accounts, enforced censorship and manipulation of the media, indicate that Stalin was fully aware of and intentionally engineered this genocide to consolidate his hold over the Soviet Union and destroy a nationally conscious Soviet Ukraine. Stalin's campaign of terror caused the death by starvation of between 7 and 10 million people. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, this atrocity can no longer be denied, diminished or justified, as facts prove that the 1932-33 famine was not caused by a poor harvest or collectivisation.
http://www.faminegenocide.com/2003-competition/07-luhovy-famine-genocide.html

It was all about political subjugation. No mention of atheism...gee. And yet I have no doubt that you and your blatantly dishonest sources include all those deaths in the 130 million and attribute them to atheism. Prove me wrong. Show us an itemized list of those 130 million deaths and what they were all attributed to. That should be easy if you have a shred of evidence and intellectual honesty.

19. Actually, atheism was used as an excuse.
Was it the main motivating factor? No. However, it was encouraged in the people as a means of destroying organized religion.

I'm not saying that atheism was the cause of the horrors that occurred. that would be both simplistic and wrong. Then again, religion didn't cause the deaths during the inquisition, the conquest of Central and South America, or the mess in the former Yugoslavia. The cause was those individuals who bent and warped these ideas for their own ends.

20. Yes, of course. That's why they built monuments to Scientific Atheism
and museums, and special atheist holidays, and why millions joined atheist groups, and why atheism was inculcated in schools, factories, and all public buildings and institutions.
