Al Davis' body isn't even cold, and L.A. is already trying to teamjack the Raiders.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-silver_al_davis_raiders_relocation_la_stadium101011

As the NFL closes in on a potential return to the Los Angeles market, which has been vacant since the Raiders returned to Oakland and the Rams moved to St. Louis in 1995, there are numerous questions in the wake of Davis’ death:...

Will the Raiders be wooed back to L.A. as a tenant by one of two competing groups attempting to build stadiums in the region?...

Two other NFL owners said they believed the league would be receptive to a potential Raiders relocation south, given California’s stadium construction challenges and the attendance issues the team has experienced since returning to Oakland in 1995 following a 13-year stint at the Los Angeles Coliseum....

"With Al alive, I don’t think they ever could’ve gotten the votes to move back to L.A.," one owner said. “It’s not just because Al wouldn’t have given up control and was difficult to deal with; it’s because it’s too important a market, and Al only cared about the football side. We need someone there who cares about the business side, too. Now, all of a sudden, the landscape has changed. The Raiders are a very viable option.”

Yeesh. Maybe they could change the name to the L.A. Vultures. :eyes:

Well, whatever the outcome it'll come down to money because that decides every fucking thing in the world right now.

2. I grew up rooting for the LA Rams.
They were always on the CBS second game in the 60's and thought Roman Gabrial was the best QB in the league. I think the D-Line were one of the first to have a name given yo them - The Fearsome Foursome. A shame the owners were allowed to move that franchise to St.Louis.

3. Actually it was a shame that the owners allowed the Cleveland Rams to move to LA.

4. I did not know that. I thought the Browns were one of the original NFL teams.
I don't ever recall anything about the Cleveland Rams...were they is some regional, semi-pro league or did Cleveland have 2 pro teams?

5. The Browns were formed in 1946 as a charter member
of the AAFC (All-America Football Conference) and joined the NFL in 1950 when the leagues merged. The Rams moved to L.A. in 1945, apparently because they were losing money in Cleveland.

Only three teams from the AAFC made it into the NFL in 1950: the Browns, 49ers, and an early version of the Baltimore Colts.

6. The Cleveland Browns started in the AAFC
many years before the AFL, there was the All America Football Conference, complete with eventual merger.

7. And, the Cleveland Rams replaced the St. Louis Gunners in the NFL
in the 1930's.

8. I was at the last game the Rams played in Anaheim. There was a sign in the stadium that read
"Ex-Showgirl Strippers Shouldn't Be Allowed To Own Football Teams".

I remember Roman Gabriel. I met Jack Snow. I loved the Blue and White uniforms.

Fuck the Raiders. Call me a Raider Hater all day long. Hated 'em then, hate 'em now.

The only things I've ever like about the Raiders were Plunkett, Marcus Allen, and Bo.

Oakland deserves the Raiders. Let 'em stay there.
