Why is this topic forum called the "Choice" forum?

Wouldn't "Reproductive Rights" or something similar be both more descriptive and fitting?
"Choice" just seems kind of vauge to me.

Choice is the best name for it because it is a choice made by
the mother. It doesn't matter if your pro choice or pro life
the name fits it exactly right. Plus if you use a name that is
focused on just women people might get offended( even though
it is the women choice)

4. Reproductive rights works for me. I see "choice" as the choice of a legal hygienic abortion vs

a illegal back alley one unless you are rich, famous or powerful enough to afford your own private doctor. Keeping that choice open is a big issue for me.

It is not the choice of "abort or not" but "legal safe hygienic abortion or not". Reproductive Rights works for me as it doesn't get into the "choice to abort or not" or into Pro-choice/pro-life bs.

Should we post a poll and then ask Skinner to change the name if enough who post here agree? Assuming he can see the results and see which votes were by posters and which by ts'd assholes that is. Or maybe have each person just comment as well as vote?

It would cover a lot more issues. Contraception availability, EC, etc.

7. "Rights" are something that are granted. Choice is about making your own decisions

The issue of reproduction goes deeper than simply reproducing. It's about women getting to make choices about their lives that unplanned, unwilling childbearing eliminates.

By taking away the choice of giving birth - they take away our choices about so many other things.

The anti's can't stand using the word "Choice" because it's so correct. When they say, "It's a child, not a choice" they are reducing a woman's entire life - her dreams, her will, her contributions outside of reproduction, to nothing.

"Choice" is threatening to them precisely because of all it represents.
