what they're doing. Narcotics and narcotics trafficking are integral to so much of what government (at all levels - local, state, and federal) does, that they are not gonna get THAT monkey off their back for a very long time to come.
Drugs smuggling and dealing provide funds for black operations. Drug laws make it easier to suppress dissent (by busting dissenters). Drug laws enforcement protect the Pharmaceutical industry from competition. The list of beneficiaries of Drug laws and Drug wars is endless.
Do not expect major changes ANYTIME soon.

You are right, but it would seem that legalizing marijuana would free up so much money that they could go after real drugs that actually hurt people. Its so dumb that we cant smoke something that grows from the earth yet we can eat endless amounts of man made chemically enhanced pills. Oh yeah you said it the Pharma companies. bastards.
