Marijuana Leagalization Stance for Dem Candidates??
What are your requirements for Dem (or other) candidates regarding their position on Marijuana Legalization or improved marijuan laws?

- They must fully support legalization
- They must support Medical use only
- They must support national decriminalization, and/or respect of laws passed at the state level
- They don't have to have a stated positive position, as long as they don't make things more difficult/worse
- Marijuana legalization is not an issue for me at all
- They must support more efforts in the drug war
- They must support increased funding of marijuana interdiction, eradication, and arrest jailing of any level marijuana arrests

Anyone who is a donor is welcome to turn this into a true poll (maybe allow 2-3 choices by one person). Thanks for the feedback.

Does anyone have a simple layout of where each Dem candidate stands on legalization, etc?

Thanks

I wish it was legal to grow a couple of pounds for personal use. I know that around 30% of those in jail are there for non-violent possession of either weed or some other stuff (most of which I disapprove of). BUT, I think if a Dem comes out supporting legalization at this point, it would be counter-productive to their election. Too many people would think that they were nuts and dangerous. For now, let's just get one of our candidates in the white house and then worry about legalization. There are other issues a lot more important right now. Ending the war is # one with me, then the environment, then health insurance. Plus, I still have a decent stash.

3. An email from the MEdical Marijuana group said all the Democratic candidates had said they
would make the DEA desist from interfering in Doctor approved Medical Marijuanas programs.

Personally I want them to Decriminalize and free all the drug prisoners now,
WE know Prohibition does not work.

4. My stash is right outside the door
I live on a major river in So. Oregon, and for decades there have been pot plants growing along the banks. Once it get hold, hard to get rid of.

Actually, I don't like pot, but if I did I would smoke it.

7. at a minimum--legalize medicinal uses
and start decriminalization. It's something that will change little bit by little bit, with states leading the way.

11. Full legalization.
Legalizing it for medicinal purposes is probably where we will have to start, but full legalization and regulation is where I stand.

12. Typical candidate response...say one thing,do another

I support full decrim..and I don't even smoke pot.I do have friends who are patients tho,and that is why I so strongly support it...well that, and the fact that I should have the right to do as I damn well please..especially when I'm past the age of majority, and have the ability to decide for myself.

I do remember however, that Edwards did not support MMJ in the last election.I should point out as well, that if I am not mistaken,a couple of recent presidents said that they would leave the MMJ issue up to the states, and then sicked the DEA dogs on patients.

Dare...to think for yourself!

15. Edwards has changed his position on medical marijuana..
http://granitestaters.com/candidates/john_edwards.html

"What I will do as president is, we will not be going in and raiding the use of marijuana for medical purposes in states that have legalized it. I think where democracy has worked, where voters have decided this should be legalized, I will not as president go in and run contrary to the will of the people in those states where it has been legalized."

That changing their "stance" on medical legalization might result in some votes.I want full decrim for Cannabis....period.

"Ilean" towards Kooch as well :)

my name ain't Otis, and I don't buy into the tax and regulate scheme.I have rights, and I don't like anybody telling me I can do it so long as I pay a tax.

(no harm meant to anyone named Otis)

17. I believe that the candidates won't do it...
because they are too afraid..and could would it work for those who smoke and are trying to obtain a job? Wouldn't they have to change those laws too..
