4. Thanks. Torlakson had CTA support...
...and I think that's because he supports public education and doesn't see teachers as the enemy to fixing it. This appointment confirms that to me. I am REALLY hopeful that California educators can find a way to improve education here the right way AND include teachers in the process. Cross your fingers. ;

2. It will all hinge on if Brown can protect current state funding for the schools
There sure as hell is not going to be any additional allocated.

3. I love Jerry Brown and voted for him. But I did so...
...with the knowledge that he will make cuts everywhere...probably some I don't like. Still...he supports public schools, and I'd rather have him make the necessary cuts instead of Meg.

I have no illusions that the cuts will be painful for all in California...including public schools.

5. Who the heck unrecced this?
I'm trying to give up caring about this rec system as a New Year's resolution, but really people?? Linda Darling-Hammond was on Obama's campaign team and CA is lucky to have her working for us. If there was any justice in life, she'd be the SOE of the entire country.
