106 Central Falls teachers receive pink slips (no... this is not a repost)
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - Nearly one year after all of the teachers at Central Falls High School were fired, 106 of the city's teachers have received pink slips.

Eleven of those educators are being singled out for poor performance, three of whom are tenured.

The state deadline to hand out pink slips is March 1.

Another source:

Around this time every year, Rhode Island school districts confronting budget cuts or declining enrollments send out pink slips warning teachers who might be laid off in June.

But in Central Falls, another factor is contributing to a high number of pink slips. Eleven teachers –– most of whom work at the city’s only high school –– could lose their jobs because of poor performance.

Three of the 11 are tenured teachers, meaning they have worked for at least three years and enjoy job protections that come with tenure.

3. With the 11, certainly. With the rest? I doubt it.
They're not going to charters or restructuring schools in "creative" ways... they're just being laid off for budgetary reasons. No advancement of his education agenda and higher unemployment among a group that would (historically) be expected to support him? Nah... I doubt he approves.

But those eleven fit very nicely into his plans.
