NC House passed the anti marriage equality bill on the third reading
looks like we will have to win this in May at the ballot box. Frankly, the May date likely dooms us, as we have no primary at all and now the national Democratic party has no desire to help us at all. Overall sucky day. Off to vigil.

1. Putting this on the primary ballot is a particularly awful and disgusting bit of political trickery.
Really goes to show how hollow the proponents' rhetoric about "letting the people vote" is.

3. The primary is governed by North Carolina General Statutes § 163-1
"(b) On Tuesday next after the first Monday in May preceding each general election to be held in November for the officers referred to in subsection (a) of this section, there shall be held in all election precincts within the territory for which the officers are to be elected a primary election for the purpose of nominating candidates for each political party in the State for those offices, and nonpartisan candidates as to offices elected under the provisions of Article 25 of this Chapter."

So it will be a rare locale that has no primary. But primary turn-outs are typically low, and there may be more excitement among Rs than Ds, due to the presidential contest

6. What we need is an out Nascar Driver
Actually any of the upper tier drivers publicly coming out against this might have a big impact in our favor.
