Are Buddy and Pedro, two African penguins at the Toronto Zoo, gay?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but their keepers have noticed the two are inseparable, and perhaps most telling, they’re showing signs of mating behaviours.

There are other cases of gay penguins — zoos in New York, Japan, Germany and Sea World Orlando have seen examples.

As part of an experiment a few years ago, Roy and Silo, two male chinstrap penguins at New York’s Central Park zoo, incubated an egg together and raised the chick, named Tango, after she hatched. A children’s book about them called And Tango Makes Three was a smash best seller.

4. After reading the Op, it doesn't say they are going to separate them. just force

them to breed with females. Still extremely cruel.

5. Very dumb...penguins mate for life...they ain't gonna mate with the females...

and if there's artificial insemination of some sort, the female will be left alone to raise the young one, whereas pneguins share 50-50...an all around idiotic idea.

I can see the zoo's plight, on how to solve the 'problem', but while this species of penguin is endangered, it is not to the point that every effort must be taken to populate the species.

If they don't, then they will be splitting them up because one of them raising it with a female is a full-time job.
