Democrats protest move to end filibuster

By James Dornbrook
The Examiner

Protesters rallied at the Independence Square courthouse Wednesday against the Congressional Republicans' threat to eliminate the filibuster to clear the way for controversial judicial appointments.

Protesters carried signs stating: "Courts seized by right wing;" "Private property, right wing judges only by order of Congress;" "Long live filibuster; and Congress is not a rubber stamp for the president." <snip>

"With Republicans poised to vote in the next few days to repeal the filibuster of judicial nominees, we have a simple message for Senators Bond and Talent: Don't join the Republicans who want to break the rules to gain absolute power to stack the courts with right-wing extremist judges," LeVota said. "Republicans want to break the rules so they can have absolute power to appoint extremist judges who want to strike down basic protections, like clean water, our right to privacy, even the minimum wage and 40 hour work week." <snip>
