Cop accused of ordering killing
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-copbusted16.html

Fred Hamilton made an anonymous call in September 2003 to the Chicago Police, accusing an officer of insurance fraud and saying he feared the officer would kill him.

Hamilton's prediction came true six months later when he was fatally shot nine times as his girlfriend watched, police say.

On Friday, Officer Edward K. Leak Jr. -- a member of the Leak & Sons Funeral Home family -- was ordered held without bond for allegedly ordering the killing.

"This is the case of a hardened criminal who just happened to hold a badge," said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Thomas D. Bilyk.

3. I am a cop.
That doesnt mean I support criminal cops, but thanks for judging. Cops are human and until Robocop becomes reality, they will be found committing crimes like any other human. So the point for posting stories like this seems to me, to be, to whip everyone into a hatefest like the other thread.

5. The thing is, I'm not a cop hater. But I don't like pre-emptive attitude
from anyone.

9. The reason that people who get so up in arms
about police who are criminals is, as far as I can tell, the same reason people get so upset when a cop gets murdered. It is the "thin blue line" idea: that the only barrier between our society and a brutal anarchy is the police forces. (Whether this is true or not is subject to debate, but it is a legitimate opinion.)

So when an officer commits so extreme a crime as murder, the instinctual reaction is one of extreme fear. If police are victimizing citizens, then who will protect the citizens from being victimized? Or at least, so goes the thinking (upon which I pass no judgement).

4. What is it with the folks that brand posters who post something
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 08:58 AM by Tom Yossarian Joad
that discusses impropriety within law enforcement as "Cop Haters?"

Reminds me of the same logic of anti-war equals anti-America.

Sheesh.

7. Actually, if you had read the post
I said that cop haters would be coming to this thread. I never called the OP a cop hater.
