Indiana Attorney Files Lawsuit Against Phone Companies

An Indianapolis attorney claims the U.S. government broke the law by collecting private citizens' phone information. Attorney Russell Sipes is taking several phone companies to court.

The wire-tapping issue came to light earlier this year. President Bush claims the domestic spying program fights terrorism. The issue is whether the program is legal.

"It's not about what happens to the information. Once it's turned over to a third party, the violation occurred," says Sipes.

He's filed class action lawsuits in federal and state courts, that allege companies like AT&T, MCI, and Nextel allowed the U.S. government to intercept, monitor and conduct surveillance on phone calls made by private citizens ...
