Woman says TSA forced piercings removal
LOS ANGELES - A Texas woman who said she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane called Thursday for an apology by federal security agents and a civil rights investigation.

...

Hamlin said she could not remove them and asked whether she could instead display her pierced breasts in private to the female agent. But several other male officers told her she could not board her flight until the jewelry was out, she said.

...

She said she heard male TSA agents snickering as she took out the ring. She was scanned again and was allowed to board even though she still was wearing a belly button ring.

...

Hamlin wants an apology from the TSA and an investigation by the agency's civil rights office.

1. That agency needs to be disbanded along with DHS.
It's just being used as a front for middle school level sadism.

4. I wholeheartedly agree with that. DHS and TSA - disband them both.
Total waste of taxpayer's monies.

19. Fully agree.
This is just ridiculous, an egregious abuse of their power. All of our government-paid thugs need to be stripped of their positions of authority and relegated to some lesser position where they can't bully others.

Sorry, but anyone who is moronic enough to go to the airport with nipple rings in deserves what happens to them.

The growing plague of nipple ring assaults has me beside myself with fear. :eyes:

On edit: How old were you when you decided that defending the actions of morons would be your life's work?

14. No abridgement of freedom = "deserved what they got."
You may personally dislike nipple rings from an aesthetic standpoint, but, until the government forces you to wear them... what's your issue? Lest you forget... liberty flows one way "All rights not expressly granted to the government, are retained by the people." She did not "deserve" anything other than what the constitution gaurantees her: "Life, liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

The more I think about it, the angrier i get.... not at the TSA tyrants who humiliated this womqan in this way... but at you.

Any one moronic enough to neglect the defense of liberty deserves what he gets. Asshole.

18. sorry.. she is completely within her legal rights. . .
I suppose you're one of those who's "ok" with everything you say on the phone and post online being recorded with the NSA because you're "not doing anything wrong".

Please remember that how "wrong" is defined is damn fluid and depends entirely on who's in charge at any given moment.

TSA Responds to Nipple Ring Complaint

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration said it will change they way its officers search passengers with body piercings after a Texas woman complained she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane.

"TSA acknowledges that our procedures caused difficulty for the passenger involved and regrets the situation in which she found herself," the agency said in a statement. "We appreciate her raising awareness on this issue and we are changing the procedures to ensure that this does not happen again."

16. Register the offenders as sex offenders
Really, this kind of crude exploitation of security jobs for humiliating activities should be classified as a sex crime.
