Los Angeles Metrolink abolishes the Fourth Amendment, begins bogus "random bag searches"
from http://boingboing.net/

Starting this month, the Los Angeles Metro Metrolink will be infected with some super-neat security theater: random bag searches will inconvenience the new crop of...riders who are turning to Metro to escape high gas prices.

The thing is, the searches will "randomly" target different stations, where signs will announce to everyone (except, presumably, illiterate terrorists) that they should go to a different station if they don't want to be searched.

U.S. Constitution: Fourth Amendment

Fourth Amendment - Search and Seizure

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

2. Utterly retarded.
"Security theater" is right - this is nothing more than a show, put on to pacify the "OMG, THEY'RE NOT KEEPING US SAFE" bleatings of a pathetic gullible few.

Oh, and also to justify some police harassment.

3. ive seen random police roadblocks in both FL and NC
They check licenses and let people pass. This is clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment and proof of a descent into a police state.
