Robert Byrd, in the 60s, filibustered the Civil Rights act, and thus, to the Reichies, |
|
is a racist, despite his change of heart and mind and voting record since.
Of course, since "people can't change":
George W. Bush has constantly been drunk throughout his entire Presidential reign ...
Newt Gingrich isn't a Catholic, and will cheat on his current wife, and will get yet another divorce ...
Rush Limbaugh will get yet another divorce ...
The "converted" gays saved by prayer & re-education are still gay ...
and, since Byrd is a racist because he filibustered the Civil Rights act in the 60s ... what does that make today's Republicans, who are filibustering almost everything?

1. There have always been, and always will be different rules for Republicans. |
|
You can have "youthful indiscretions" when you're 40, like Henry Hyde.
You can cheat on your wives, and even have one sign the divorce papers while she's lying in the hospital, like Newt Gingrich.
You can have an intern turn up dead in your office and not even be whispered about in the media. (Meanwhile, if you're a Democrat and your intern goes missing, you are the IMMEDIATE PRIME SUSPECT - at least to the media.)

2. Kerry can flub a joke about Bush and it's all over the media; Hillary claims she came |
|
"under fire" during a foreign visit ... media falls all over itself showing her smiling while walking on the tarmac ...
Bush says he isn't concerned about bin Laden, and Kerry declares it during the debates ... media goes "video? what video?"

3. Racist or not, Byrd was still a bigot. |
