Reviewing my life, and it’s driving me nuts.
Anyone else experience this?

I am in my mid-50’s. For the last few years, I keep remembering things from years and years ago. These aren’t usually traumatic memories. Most of them are pretty mundane; some of them are painful and/or sad.

My parents died within the last few years, and I suspect this is related.

Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something, but sometimes it seems it’s about to drive me to drink.

1. You're not alone
and there is no need to drink... well, not for this reason anyway. cheney/bush still gives you one helluva reason to want an altered state.

2. I try not to do too much second guessing any more

Can't change it and I've done everything I could to fix what were problems.

Just let it go and get peace from knowing you did the best you could at the time, or when you were able to do something. Our personal stuff and bagage are rarely completely what we perceive them to be. You've got to ask if the situations would be the same in a vacuum removed of the influence of others. IN other words, what did someone else do or not do that helped create the situation. Then don't get mad or stay mad at them. Just let it go knowing you were not the only influence and it's their problem too whether they realize it or not.

4. These memories just come back to me, I'm not seeking them out.
If that makes sense. :-)

They just float up into my conscious mind without any effort on my part.

Thanks for what you posted.

3. Sounds like mid-life angst...
I think it's natural to go over our lives during the middle years, especially at transition points (divorce, parents dying, kids leaving home). When it happens to me, I try to let the memories float up and review them without harsh judgement of myself or anyone else, and then let them go. Maybe the universe (or your higher self) is trying to tell you something ~ "ask and it is given" the saying goes. Whatever else you do ~ be kind to yourself!

5. What I meant by "ask and it is given"...
When memories are coming up and you don't know what they're trying to tell you, sometimes you can get more clarity by asking specific questions during meditation or just before sleep.
