Any one else upset? Stripping is a good Career
Career Day Speaker Tells Children Stripping Is Lucrative
Exotic Dancers Make More Depending On Bust Size, Speaker Says

SAN FRANCISCO -- An inspirational talk for middle-schoolers isn't what a popular speaker at a middle school's annual career day had in mind.
William Fried told eighth-graders in Palo Alto that stripping -- or exotic dancing -- could be a lucrative profession. He noted that strippers can make $250,000 a year or more.

He also said the exact amount of financial opportunity was directly proportional to the dancer's bust size.

Fried might not be invited back after giving the students at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School that questionable career advice.

Fried is president of a management consulting firm. He gave nearly an hour-long talk to the kids at the Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School on "The Secret of a Happy Life."

"The truth of the matter is you can earn a tremendous amount of money as an exotic dancer, if that's your desire."
- William Fried

Fried told students: "The truth of the matter is you can earn a tremendous amount of money as an exotic dancer, if that's your desire."

Fried has given his 55-minute talk to students for the past three years.

He also distributed a tip sheet that includes a list of 140 careers, ranging from accounting to wrestling, as well as exotic dancing and stripping.

Principal Joseph Di Salvo said he plans to send some apologetic letters home with students.

Fried said he doesn't think he offended anyone.

3. Probably as good an illustration of the Republican
values as any. Put bluntly, it seems that money equals morality. The more money you make, the more moral you are considered to be...

7. I was going to post the first of seven times that this article was posted
on DU. But then it occurred to me, the media are whores for selling their face time for a price; politicians are whores who sell their influence for a price; all the faith-based churches are whores for taking money from Bush under false pretenses; stockbrokers are whores when they don't disclose financial arrangments; real estate brokers are always whores, no matter the reason; lawyers are whores because their bottomline is money. They can win this battle just by ferreting out the corrupt and going through the court systems without settlement arrangements, but they don't.

So, when you compare this to stripteasing, stripteasing is infinitely more honorable.

10. "stripteasing is infinitely more honorable"
If people had the choice of stripping as a career (that might last 10 years?)

or the option of being a stockbroker, a real estate broker, or a lawyer (and those were the only options)

assuming, for the sake of argument, that they would make the same per year...

I wonder what most people would choose.

What would you choose?

11. Oh, honey. To be a stripteaser you actually have to be born with talent
and gifts.

(But personally, I would never want my daughter or son to be a stripteaser. I don't object to people of poor means doing it to get out of a rut, but it only means that the criminal justice department has a tougher job of keeping the influences around those strippers honest long enough to let the strippers get out of the profession without permanent damage.)

8. Be upset at his rich nation, denies people a proper education....
Many of these strippers are beautiful women lacking money to complete their education or have no money at all to survive in life. Handsome male strippers also try to make ends meet by stripping in private clubs, private parties (bridal showers).

A friend of my son's is a male stripper, he is also a school teacher. His college educating debt is enormous and he has to pay it off somehow. You gotta do whatta gotta do. If his last name was bush, he wouldn't have to strip.

If this rich nation would make education affordable to all, many of these strippers would be out of job. We need to attack the message, not the messenger.

13. Young girls should aspire to other things
Yes, it might end up that stripping is their best option economically, but it would be far better if they planned to be lawyers, doctors, engineers, scientists, ect. Most strippers will need a back up plan anyway. If they are wise, this might make them enough money to afford to go to college after their careers are over. Few strippers can strip past their early thirties. If they do, they usually make less and work for less prestigous clubs. Unless there are geriatric themed clubs that I am not aware of, it is obvious that this cannot be a lifelong career.

14. As a former stripper and dominatrix...
You don't need to learn about this career option in school. You'll find it if you want it or need it. There are some strippers who have lucrative careers up until age 50. Most dance to get through school or start a business or for other temporary reasons. Traditionally, blue collar femme lesbians have been strippers to avoid the ostracization that occurs in secretarial work.

But there's no need to tell kids about the sex industry. Oh, and for the record...dancers don't make money according to the size of their breasts. They make money based on their ability to separate men from their money.
