China's happy vegetarian turns 120

(UPI Quirks in the News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Listed in the Guinness World Records as the oldest living person, a Chinese woman has marked her 120th birthday.

Celebrating her birthday Saturday with dozens of relatives and locals in the city of Leshan, Sichuan province, Du Pinhua said she has been vegetarian for her whole life, China Daily reported Wednesday.

1. I envy people who can say that
But, you have to be conceived and born into a vegetarian family to make that claim.

:-(

2. It's enough for me to know I've been a vegan
my entire adult life. It was my choice, and I did it without the support of my family. So I can pat myself on the back and take credit for this.

But that doesn't mean my time as a vegan is any better or worse than someone else's. We each made the decision. We each came to our own reasons for making the decision. And we've all stuck to that decision.

That's awesome, even if it only happened yesterday. Perhaps especially if it only happened yesterday.

If I'm not mistaken, LeftyKid (LeftyMom's little darling) has been vegan since day 1, but I might be wrong.

Nice find, Elad!! Thanks.

5. Nope, not quite.

I (and he, since he was nursing and then on *blush* formula) was omni until he was almost a year.

Edit: Oh, and he actually had a little jar of turkey and broccoli baby food once. I remember I told you that ages ago. He's never had any meat other than that though, and went vegan a bit before I did since I was ovo lacto briefly and he was allergic to milk and I never gave him eggs.

Would that all my wishes could be so easily fulfilled.
