Zen Burger
There is a restaurant here in NYC called Zen Palate. They used to be a vegan restaurant, and they were awesome.

Then they changed owners and the new owner added dairy to many of the recipes, apparently because it made the recipies easier to prepare or cheaper or something. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who was very upset about that. :(

Now the owners are opening a fast-food chair called Zen Burger. It's an entirely vegetarian burger and fry joint, with one one burger on the menu that is vegan. They opened their first location in mid-town manhattan and they are always packed solid!

I'm very, very glad that an openly vegetarian chain is off to such a good start. I hope they succeed and convince a lot of people that being a vegetarian is a reasonable option. I'd love to see them compete successfully against McDonalds, Burger King and Wendys.

Did they open a test location someplace else in the country? I thought I heard about that at some point but I don't know where?

I would love to see them put some vegan options on the menu. But then again, I can't see myself (or most vegans) eating at a fast food restaurant very often, so maybe there's a good reason why they don't feel the need to have vegan stuff on the menu.

1. According to their website...

...there's only one location so far.

They have a way to submit comments, though, _here_, and a _MySpace page_, and lots and lots of mentions on _Google_.

Hopefully business will continue to be wonderful, and they'll add more vegan choices and replace burger chain joints all over the country. :hi:

2. There are three vegans in my building, counting me.
And we've all put in comments about more vegan options. :)

Please, please, please submit some comments to help us expand their menu!

4. I'm not sure they'd count my comments...
Considering that I'm nowhere near NYC and only visit for a day once during the annual family pilgrimage. :D

However, next time I'm there, I'll try to make a point of visiting the place and commenting in person.
