they recently lost an older dog- Tasha just died peacefully in her sleep. I had suggested to them that maybe they could foster a dog, to give their remaining dog companionship and because they are animal lovers. Well, they didn't foster- but they contacted the local lab rescue and adopted Sadie Mae- a six year old beauty who had been dumped by the side of the road in Kansas. It is thought that she was in a puppy mill and probably had six litters of puppies. Her teats were still swollen, poor girl. Poor Sadie is blind also, she has cataracts.
I thank my lucky stars that I was born to the family that I was. I learned to love animals because of them. Us kids were always bringing home dogs. My dad didn't even yell when my latest 'find' that I had tied up to the front porch, pulled down the support beam.
How can people do such things to animals? She had outlived her usefulness to them, so they just discarded her. It makes ne sick. Just had to share with y'all.

1. Sounds like you have great folks. |

I wish I had an answer for your first question. All you can do is what you can, spread the word, educate the unknowing and prosecute the abusive.

2. some people must see animals as objects or something |

I think some can't imagine the heart and soul that animals have. I'm pretty sure it's an insecurity of their own, needing to put their species above the rest!

I have adopted so many dogs and cats just dumped out here in the country. They are always so special, even the one's with problems. I am in Kansas as well.
I have no idea how anyone could treat any animal like that.
