I just got a 20" Core Duo! |
|
And OMFG it freaking ROCKS. I realize anything would probably seem super fast since I'm upgrading from a Rev. C. iMac G3 (tray loading at that), but holy crap...even running non-Universal programs it's like lightning. I only have the stock 512 RAM but am planning to use my Amazon rebate to pick up a 1 gig stick from Crucial.
Question though...I am new to this whole OSX thing, being an ooooold school Mac geek. What are the indispensible OSX programs y'all can't live without? Anything in particular I should know, also?

2. Desktop Manager See my post on it. GIMP, Inkscape, |
|
Graphic converter, Cyberduck, Tex-Edit, Neo Office, NVU.
GIMP.app is a graphics program, and so is Graphic Converter.
Cyberduck is an FTP client.
Inkscape is a Scaleable Vector Graphic program.
Tex-Edit is an excellent text editor.
Neo Office is a free office suite.
Tex-Edit and Graphic Converter are shareware. Tex-Edit doesn't cripple the app, or nag you. Pay anyway, he deserves it. Graphic Converter is terrific.
Desktop Manager is like having an extra monitor. I can't do without it.
NVU is a fine HTML editor. I use it for my websites.
