Help - need to convert a wordperfect file (PC) into something I can read |
|
Just received two wonderful files from my friend John Morris in Paris, but I can't open them. I have Mac OS X (panther) and don't have WordPerfect. I wish WordPerfect would cease to exist, LOL. Anyway, short of having a PC person convert these, is there anyway to open them? Appleworks doesn't have a filter. Or does it???

Finally had to have the sender convert. As I remember, they had to add rtf to their file name, perhaps .rtf.
I don't know if Wordperfect can "export" as text - none of my friends can seem to understand how to prowl through all the options in a "Save as" menu.
Finally Text edit was the one that could translate whatever they finally sent me. A pain.
Just got a 12.99 Microsoft Office wannabe from EBay - "Thinkfree Office" but haven't tried it on Wordperfect. Works great for Excel spreads that won't open in Appleworks so that i don't have to have the sender mess with the name to send to me.

They have to add .rtf when they save as -- whatta pain.
I try to have a microsoft free environment - but I bet even Office doesn't have a filter for this.
wordperfect must be OLD - yet there remains far too many diehards for this Mac user's taste.
