Leopard's top-secret secrets
Apple’s refusal to discuss unannounced products can confound users and journalists and analysts alike. But I think it’s the only sensible policy. Is Apple working on a phone? I have no direct information of any kind, but…sure. I bet there’s some test hardware somewhere on campus.

But because they haven’t announced or even acknowledged such a project, they’re free to take their time. If they want to wait three years until a new wireless infrastructure is in place, so be it.

Mac OS X 10.5 has been announced and demoed, but the same principle applies. There’s no announced ship date and no commitment to any features. Nobody would have been surprised or disappointed if Steve had said “Naturally, we’re not showing you everything today.”

1. Jobs talks up Apple cell phone
Jobs talks up Apple cell phone

Apple Computer chief executive Steve Jobs has been boasting about his company's much-rumored iPod cell phone amongst inner circles, AppleInsider has been told.

The remarks are uncharacteristic of Jobs, who is often regarded for his obsession with secrecy -- especially when it comes to unannounced products from his own company. But it's been said that Jobs' own excitement over the device has produced a number of zealous ramblings amongst personal acquaintances dating back to this spring.

One person familiar with the ongoings believes the Apple cofounder has commissioned the release of cell phone prototypes to at least two potential OEM manufacturing partners in recent months. Current designs are said to conform to Apple's integrated model and leverage its tightly-knit digital media franchises, that person added.

2. Run Windows applications without Windows
Everyone probably is aware of Wine, an open-source method that allows you to run Windows apps without having Windows.

The rumor is that Leopard will have something like this (or more advanced) built-in to the OS. Imagine being able to run nearly any program and all under OS X!

I've said this before, but I think that Apple may be producing a UC, a Universal Computer that can run it all.

5. It's speculated the interface for Leopard will be something new.
They showed Core Animation at the WWDC, and even though Leopard looks like Tiger so far, it's hypothesized that they could do some ridiculously flashy things with the GUI that they're keeping secret.
