Editing movies in iMovie from my Canon G10. The movies are Mov. I tried |
|
converting them to MPEG-4, but iMovie wouldn't take it. Should I convert it to DVI or something like that?

iMovie doesn't take .mov (Quicktime) or MPEG-4 (Blu Ray standard). It takes m4p (iTunes) or mp4 (standard mpeg4) and DV (camcorder).
If it's in .mov now. Open in Quicktime, and convert to Apple TV or iTunes (Apple TV is a better picture). Go to Share>iTunes>Apple TV. Drop copy into iMovie. Edit Away!

2. Thank you. It didn't allow AppleTV, but it did iTunes. I guess it didn't |

4. It doesn't have to detect Apple TV. It's built into the OSX. |
|
I don't have it, and it shows up on my QT.

6. The iTunes option was the only one that wasn't grayed out. |

3. It would only convert to p4v and iMovie won't accept it. |

5. What's the original format from the camera? |
|
Can the output be altered? DV is usually the best default for a camcorder.
I don't know what p4v is. Never heard of that one.
... one second to last option. Drop the .mov file into iTunes. Find it in movies, and convert it to iTunes format.
... the last option is the $30 Wondershare converter/ripper suite. I use it and it's great. You can download it.

7. NTSC. It shows as a MOV. I did the conversion through iTunes. It allowed |
|
me do drop it into iMovie, but all that appeared was vertical dots with the iTunes musical note. I tried both iTunes and iPhone formats.
I meant m4v.
I'll check out Wondershare. Thanks.

9. I had no problem downloading it into iTunes. Editing it |
|
in iMovie is what I want to do.
