iMac, external WiFi antenna question from an iNewbie.
I'm very new to the Mac world, so in all reality I have a ton of questions.

I'm most interested in this, if anyone can answer. With his permission, my high speed connection is borrowed from my neighbors (and guitar player) wifi. I purchased a G-Sky GS-27 USB WiFi adapter, an external antenna, which works pretty well with my Acer/Vista machine.

Unfortunately the instructions do not include Mac instructions, although the specifications say it is Mac compatible. When I look at the driver disk under mac drivers, there are two drivers, and I'm not sure which one to use.

I have an iMac with OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard.

Any knowledge or ideas?

thanks...

1. Check out this site
It is one of the best forums for Mac related stuff. You have to join to post a question, but it's well worth it. So, maybe someone there will be able to answer your question, as I don't have an answer to for you.

Good Luck :hi:

2. Tried a google search. I don't know enough to discern
what is relevant and what is not.

4. Do you have airport built in? If so, why are you not using that?

5. I thought all iMacs had airport built in
Which does beg the question; why not use it? Works beautifully for me (I especially the Airport Extreme that let's me control iTunes and my whole-house stereo system from anywhere in the house using my iPod touch).

7. Distance
My friend's house is to far away for AirPort to pick up. Same with my PC, that's why I got the external antenna.

My opinion. Buy an Airport Extreme. The expense is more than worth it.
