Salad dressing as marinade |
|
This is my new kick
buy any salad dressing that appeals to you, buy on impulse, don't think about it too much in the store
marinade some steaks or chicken or both in it.
throw it on the grill.
I am working my way through the entire dressing aisle.
so far it has worked out well

I've also coated chicken with mustard before baking and had good results. Mayo is a great base for a bread crumb coating on chicken parts baked in the oven.
Fruity dressings are often weird, don't like 'em on salads, don't like 'em on baked or grilled food. Maybe they'd work on duck if I could find duck in New Mexico, but I honestly don't care to find out. Apricot preserves work too well to spend three bucks on a bottle of raspberry vinaigrette that might not.

When I was a kid, I really loved dipping my chicken in "french" dressing.
As for marinades, the high vinegar content ones work the best for me.
I can see that if you have a piece of game, say venison, perhaps buttermilk ranch would work better.
