Farmer's Market Bounty
I rarely miss the Farmer's Market, and this morning was no exception.

Here's a pic of some of my bounty. And yes, that's a stuffed chicken wing on the right. It's and "absolute" that I purchase one every week.

The beets turned into "shredded beets with shallots", one of my favorite veggie dishes. I've posted that recipe here before, so I won't bore you all again.

1. I've not gone for the last couple of weeks.
I miss it, too. That all looks so yummy! What is the wing stuffed with? :hi:

2. Not sure of all the spices,
but I do know that some of the ingredients are; scallions, bean thread noodles, cabbage, carrots. Can't remember what else. Traditionally, stuffed chicken wings are deep fried, but Mai's group grills them on-site. I think that's one reason (of many) why they are so tasty.

3. The beets look delicious.
Beets are so expensive. Maybe where I order my veggies will have them available soon.

5. fresh beets ARE expensive, relatively
I wonder why. A bunch of beets usually is only three or four of them.

4. Oh yeah!
A grill makes all the difference, I'm sure. One of my friends who is a pork vendor brings his grill cart and has brats and dogs going all day. Love getting me a fresh hot grilled brat for breakfast when I make it down there. :9

6. I made dilled carrots with market carrots last night
I think I'll go get a few from the jar for snacking right now! Heheh. Sunday is market day in my town. Last week I got sour pie cherries and they were outrageously delicious, if expensive at 4.50 per pound. If I see any this week, I'll get enough for a pie. And I'm looking for small pickling cukes. My plants aren't making enough for any jars of pickles -- maybe that's because we eat so many of them just fresh.

In the huge garden here, there is not one ripe tomato yet. None. It was a crazy weather year for gardeners. Loads of basil, no tomatoes.

7. Oh my gosh!
I haven't made dilled carrots in ages, and I simply adore them.

Please think of me while you are munching. ;-)
