I made a few Paula Deen Bacon Cheese Crackers... |
|
Just 8 of them, lol.
It's that time of the year when I think about appetizers to take to parties and a couple of different people mentioned these. I like to try new things but I'll eat the standard sausage cheese balls too. So I figured what the heck.
I used canned Parmesan cheese on four of them and sliced parm on the others.
Results: eh.
The real parm was better but both were way too salty for my palate. And they just don't look that good. They were not as greasy as you'd think (they crisp up) but I'm not sure this is something worth eating. Might be good with pepperjack cheese or something with a little more zing.
Have you ever tried them? The reviews are very mixed and now I see why!

1. No I haven't seen them before...so I went to food netowrk to read about them |

Pepperjack or a sharper cheese might make it better...I see some people added cream cheese..dunno about these. :)

2. A while back I tried a few Deen recipes and... |
|
she should be arrested for endangering our health and palates..
Or maybe shot on sight, just to make sure she never cooks again.
It is entirely possible I did something wrong and trashed her recipes, but I don't think so. The results were too astoundingly bad and even though some really strange and embarrassing things have come from my kitchen, I don't remember ever making anything so inedible, possibly poisonous, before.
I fully understand that many cooking shows are merely entertainment and everyone is in on the joke that no one will really try to make that stuff, so they leave out the boring steps. Emeril is the worst I've seen at this, but Maybe Deen has him beat. At any rate, I suggest the best thing to so is toss her "recipe" but if it looks like it's worth the time, try to find a good recipe the stuff somewhere else.

3. I think I've made some that were okay... |
|
but obviously I haven't hit on anything that I *must* make again.
Oddly enough, my husband tried one when he got home and suggested I make them for his family for xmas eve but top them with roasted red pepper jam (which I keep).
